Sleep Apnea

What is Sleep Apnea?

It is serious chronic condition characterized by repeated pauses in breathing or shallow breaths during sleep. These “apneas” can occur dozens or even hundreds of times a night, preventing your brain and body from receiving vital oxygen.

If left untreated, it can increase your risk for:

  1. High blood pressure and hypertension

  2. Heart attack and stroke

  3. Type 2 diabetes

  4. Chronic daytime fatigue and workplace accidents

Types of Sleep Apnea We Treat

Not all sleep disorders are the same. Our board-certified sleep specialists identify the specific root cause of your symptoms:

  1. Obstructive (OSA): The most common form, caused by a physical blockage of the airway (often by enlarged tonsils, a large tongue, or excess soft tissue).

  2. Central (CSA): A neurological condition where the brain fails to signal the muscles to breathe.

  3. Mixed: A combination of both obstructive and central factors.
